Terms of Service

By downloading or using Droid Sentry, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Droid Sentry is a sensor-and-alert app. You choose what it should notice — movement seen by the camera, a sound picked up by the microphone, or the phone being moved — and what it should do in response, such as playing a sound, showing a video, or speaking a message.

Droid Sentry is a convenience and creativity tool. It is not a professional security or surveillance system. We don't guarantee that it will detect any particular event, that detection will be instant or reliable in every situation, or that it will work continuously in the background. Don't rely on it to protect people, property, or anything that matters.

You agree to use Droid Sentry lawfully and respectfully. Specifically:

• No covert surveillance. Don't use the app to secretly monitor people. Place the phone openly, and only use the camera or microphone where the people involved would reasonably expect it — your own home, your event, your display.
• Respect others' privacy and any laws that apply where you use the app, including consent and recording laws.
• Don't use the app to harass, threaten, intimidate, or alarm anyone.
• Don't interfere with, reverse-engineer for harmful purposes, or misuse the app.

The app needs Android permissions to work — for example, the camera to notice movement, the microphone to notice sound, and the permissions it needs to play sounds, show videos, or speak. You control which permissions you grant and can revoke them in your Android settings at any time. Camera and microphone input is used for detection and is not recorded or saved by the app.

Sounds, videos, and spoken messages you add to the app are yours. You're responsible for that content — including making sure you have the rights to use it and that playing it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights or break any law. We don't claim ownership of your content, and it stays on your phone.

Droid Sentry runs on Android. We work to keep the app available and improving, but we may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of it — or the whole app — at any time. What the app can do depends on your device's capabilities and the permissions you grant, so features may vary from phone to phone.

Droid Sentry is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect any particular event.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Droid Sentry's developers won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunities — arising from or related to your use of the app, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date on this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the applicable laws of the place where Droid Sentry's developer is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
