Your camera and microphone are for detecting — not recording
Last updated: October 2026
Overview
Droid Sentry is an Android sensor app. You choose what it should notice — movement seen by the camera, a sound picked up by the microphone, or the phone being moved — and what it should do in response. This policy explains, in plain language, how the app handles sensor input, what stays on your phone, and what choices you have.
Camera and microphone: detection, not recording
When an alarm that uses the camera or microphone is on, Droid Sentry uses that input to detect the activity you chose. This input is not recorded or saved by the app: no camera footage and no microphone audio is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere. Detection happens on your phone, in the moment.
When no alarm is running, Droid Sentry is not using the camera or microphone to sense anything.
Permissions
The app asks for Android permissions that match the alarms you set up — for example, the camera for motion detection, the microphone for sound detection, and the permissions it needs to play a sound, show a video, or speak a message. You choose which permissions to grant, and you can review or revoke them at any time in your Android settings. If a permission is missing, the related alarm won't work.
What's stored on your phone
Droid Sentry stores the alarms, sensors, conditions, and responses you create, so they're ready the next time you open the app. The app may also keep a small history on your phone of when an alarm fired. We're finalizing exactly what that history includes and how long it's kept, and we'll update this section before launch with those details.
What's shared
Droid Sentry doesn't have user accounts. We don't sell personal information, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers in the app. If anything about this changes in a future version, we'll update this page before that version ships.
Children and family use
Droid Sentry is designed to be simple enough for family projects — game clues, room greetings, event effects. Parents and guardians who set the app up for children are responsible for choosing where the phone is placed and which permissions are granted. The app doesn't record camera or microphone input, so those setups don't create footage or audio to review.
Your controls
- Change or delete any alarm or saved response in the app.
- Grant or revoke permissions in your Android settings at any time.
- Remove the app and its data by uninstalling it.
Changes to this policy
As the app's behavior is finalized — including the alarm-history details described above — we'll update this policy and change the “last updated” date. Material changes will be summarized at the top of this page.
