Choose what your phone notices. Choose what it does next.

Droid Sentry is an easy Android sensor app. Point it at the activity you care about — movement in view of the camera, a sound, or the phone being picked up — and it responds with a sound, a video, or a spoken message.

Droid Sentry detects — it doesn't record or save your camera or microphone.

From noticed to response, in three steps

One alarm is one simple setup: what the phone notices, plus what it does about it. You can build your first alarm in a single flow.

  1. 1

    Choose what to notice

Pick the sensor: movement seen by the camera, a sound picked up by the microphone, or the phone itself being moved.

  2. 2

    Choose what happens

Pick the response: play a sound, show a video, or speak a message you've written.

  3. 3

    Start the alarm

Turn it on when you need it. Change the sensor or response any time — and reuse a saved response in more than one alarm.

What it notices, what it does

Three sensors in, three kinds of responses out. Mix them however you like.

What it can notice

  • Movement seen by the camera

The camera notices motion in its view — someone entering a room, walking past a display, or approaching the phone.

  • A sound picked up by the microphone

The microphone notices a sound — a knock, a clap, a voice — while the alarm is on.

  • Movement of the phone

The phone notices itself being picked up, bumped, or moved from where you left it.

How it can respond

  • Play a sound

A sound effect or clip you choose, played out loud the moment the alarm triggers.

  • Show a video

Put a video on screen — great for displays and interactive setups.

  • Speak a message

The phone says a message out loud in its own voice — you write the words.

What Droid Sentry can do depends on the permissions you grant and what your device supports.

Ways to use it

A few everyday ideas — around the house, at events, in games, and anywhere a phone could react to what's happening.

  • A spoken welcome

Set the phone by the door. When motion is noticed, it says “Welcome in — grab a snack!”

  • A room reminder

Leave it on a shelf so anyone who walks past hears “Don't forget your water bottle.”

  • A hands-off display

Build a museum-style exhibit: when someone gets close, a video or sound effect plays on cue.

  • A moved-phone alert

Leave the phone on your desk or lunch tray. If it's picked up, it announces it out loud.

  • A game or scavenger-hunt clue

Hide the phone at a checkpoint. When players arrive and make noise, it speaks the next clue.

  • An event sound effect

Add a surprise cheer, honk, or fanfare when guests walk past a spot at a party or event.

Detection, not recording

Droid Sentry uses your camera and microphone to notice activity, and that input is not recorded or saved by the app. What it detects stays on your phone — no video, no audio clips, no accounts.
